With Al’s leadership and direction, CCU has been instrumental in supporting a number of local organizations including, but not limited to: The Papermaker Players; the Fox Community Health Center Dental Clinic; Capital Credit Union Charitable Giving Fund; Rebuilding Together Fox Valley; Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign; and the Capital Credit Union Volunteer Program.  CCU has been recognized with the most prestigious community engagement awards: the Des Jardins Youth Financial Literacy Award, the Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award, and the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility.

Al remains very active as a director on five diverse boards - Capital Credit Union; the Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival; the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region; the Wisconsin Shared Service Centers; and the Wisconsin Corporate Central Credit Union.  In addition, Al loves his role as assistant coach for the Kaukauna Area Special Olympics.  Al’s past service includes: Past-President of the Little Chute High School Booster Club; Chairman of the Little Chute St. John Parish Finance Committee; member of the Little Chute Businessman’s Marketing Committee; and President of the Fox Valley Chapter of Credit Unions.

The annual award recognizes an FVTC graduate who has demonstrated the value of technical education through career advancement, community service, continued personal and educational growth, and support of the technical college system.
