First Steps

You recently found out that you have been hired to teach as an adjunct instructor.  Now what?  Here's is the "recipe" you should follow to begin this endeavor.

  1. Make sure that you have turned in all of the required paperwork in the hiring packet that you were given.

  2. Begin preparing for teaching your class.  You will want to obtain the following materials from your department chair/FVTC contact:

         a.  sample syllabus for your class
         b.  textbooks and other instructional materials
         c.  other resources

  3. Check out the Instructional Resources page to help you prepare for teaching.  There are a number of resources on that page that you will find helpful.

  4. After your FVTC ID has been created, visit the Technology Resources page to learn about:

         a.  accessing your FVTC email account
         b.  accepting your teaching agreement (eAFTA)
         c.  accessing MyFVTC to get your roster and learn where you can record grades

  5. Participate in an orientation with your department supervisor.  Using the orientation checklist, you can learn about many of the services that will help you when you begin teaching
